Congregation on a bleeding acacia - The bush was oozing sap after the monsoon rains. The beetles did not cause that, although they can dig into something as soft as a ripe cactus fruit.

Aha!
I recently found several of these on a tree oozing sap and bet it's an acacia, too. There were also mating Mourning Cloak butterflies on the trunk and a few on the limbs.
