Eristalis tenax ?? - Eristalis tenax - female

Eristalis tenax ?? - Eristalis tenax - Female
Aromas, San Benito County, California, USA
August 26, 2007
Size: about 15 mm
This guy lit on a coneflower that I planted just yesterday. In live oak/chaparral habitat. My best guess is Eristalis tenax. Having now photographed this guy, I'm sure that my earlier submission 140053 is not this species.

E. tenax
and it is a female.

Yes this one is Eristalis ten
Yes this one is Eristalis tenax. Nice images.

Of course
Excellent close-up of a... female Drone-fly. As for your earlier submission, I must say I have no clue, even at the family level.
BTW, could you put the two Eumenes species you posted some ten days ago onto the Guide page dedicated to their genus? They are already at page 50 or so of "ID request" and will soon be lost for BG.

Done
I moved the Eumenes images as you requested. Thank you
