Beetle pandemonium - Neospondylis upiformis

Beetle pandemonium - Neospondylis upiformis
Moss Springs Campground, Cove, Union County, Oregon, USA
June 19, 2017
Size: ~14mm
In the campground the forest service had just cut down and sliced some large spruce or fir for future firewood and had it piled. You could smell the resin from across the campground. It was a beetle magnet. We were smashed into by beetles as they flew in to the piles from every direction! A bunch of these bruisers were flying in and crawling all over the logs.
