Hymenorus sp. There are 2 or 3 species taht are stout and about that length in NC. Personally can't take it further than genus though.

Tenebrionidae Alleculinae
Surely it's a Comb-clawed Beetle.
It's very similar to the Eurasian genus Hymenalia, absent from US.

Tetratomidae? I don't have my reference material handy so I can't say for certain.
