Pipe Organ Mud Dauber nest? - Trypoxylon politum

Pipe Organ Mud Dauber nest? - Trypoxylon politum
Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Kings County, New York, USA
August 29, 2007
I've seen Pipe Organ Mud Daubers repeatedly in the area, though this is the first time I've noticed a potential nest.

Yes!
Wow, a perfect one, too! No emergence holes mean that all larvae are still developing inside. Please leave it to overwinter, and remove it once everyone has left (should be about 3-4 occupants per "tube").

Over winter???
When I see these nests, about 3 weeks after they get completed I see holes in them where they have hatched out.
