speckle-winged black bee fly - Anthrax irroratus

speckle-winged black bee fly - Anthrax irroratus
London, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada
August 13, 2004
Size: about 6 mm
On boardwalk in the Sifton Bog. The wing pattern matches Cedar Creek's photo of Anthrax irroratus and the photo by Eric Blosser in the Guide. I think the photo by Tony DiTerlizzi is something other than A. irroratus because it has more white on the abdomen and more black on the wings, with a different pattern of speckling.
