Tree Cricket - Neoxabea bipunctata - Racine, Racine County, Wisconsin, USA August 9, 2006 Size: Approx 1 1/2"
This tree cricket lived on my 3d floor patio for about a week. He slept in a potted plant during the day, and came out to sing in the evening. I watched him climb the stalk of the sunflower, emerging at about 8 p.m. He had made holes in four different leaves on a sunflower plant to use as amplifiers by placing his wings over it. I did not actually see him make the holes, but since they were all on the same spot on each leaf, the same size and the same shape---it had to be his doing, especially since his opened wings fit perfectly over the hole. Can someone tell me which tree cricket this is? Thanks, Nancy
