a common insect, i just like the colors in the image..did not notice the ant till later.

Toxomerus
No doubt Toxomerus geminatus. ID based on black abdominal bands that don't stop at the margins and on the scutellum(the structure at the rear of the thorax "in the small of the back") being dark with gold around the edge.
