Clearwing and Skipper mating? - Hemaris diffinis

Clearwing and Skipper mating? - Hemaris diffinis
St Albans, Kanawha County, West Virginia, USA
August 17, 2017
I'm a nature photographer, but not well versed in IDing insects. I was photographing Clearwings on a butterfly bush in my neighborhood and happened upon a Clearwing and a Skipper that appeared to be mating. Is this unusual or even possible?
