Size: around 30mm
Description:

Segmented, aquatic larva putting anal spiracles up for breathing. Around 30mm length. Seemed to be navigating the puddle with its mouth. I'm not sure if it is sifting through the sediment for food or what exactly is going on. Possibly tabanid fly larva? I am unsure!

Habitat:

In a puddle of standing water with fine sediment from the dirt road. Steep hillside nearby. Surrounded by dense mixed hardwood forest.

Looks like Stratiomyidae to me
but I'm no expert :)
