California Root Borer - Prionus californicus - Female

Size: 2.25" (6 cm)
Ok, I found Prionus in the guide, and this looks like a pretty good match. Anyway, my neighbor captured this in his yard and is afraid that it is a destructive invasive species. So, do I let this fellow go in the woods behind my house or not?

Yes.
Female of Prionus californicus, the only species in Washington state that I am aware of.
