Eris
Looks like a subadult male.

Thanks
I think they are militaris, but I'm waiting for confirmation from Rod Crawford from the Burke Museum. He told me what the spider was when he caught it that day, but I've since forgotten. :)

Cool...
I take it Eris rufa hasn't been recorded that far northwest? I only saw militaris on the Washington list but wasn't sure if the list included any of the pending updates.

Jay
I think militaris is the only western Eris.

Edit to my other comment: nevermind.

Rufa,
I really don't have any idea. I haven't even found the list yet. :)

...
Shame on you!! :-D

Well, I found this, which has a large enough number of species listed, 760-860, to seem fairly complete given the varied habitat available in your state. By comparison, Ohio habitat covers a few hundred miles of Lake Erie, major rivers and lakes, and several-100,000 acres of hilly forest to the south and at least that much grassland prairie and scrub to the north. Our 2003 Ohio list includes just 582 species.

Welcome back BTW! It's nice to see you posting again, and I'm looking forward to more northwest jumpers. :-)

Thanks
I've added it to my favorites.
