Widow Skimmer (mature) - Libellula luctuosa - female

Widow Skimmer (mature) - Libellula luctuosa - Female
Jackson County, Indiana, USA
August 18, 2017
Presumably a female Window Skimmer, but dark coloring has me unsure about age. Teneral or older? Do the patches on the forewing fade away with age? (I might have expected more wing wear and tear on an older individual.)

Moved from Skimmers.

Widow Skimmer indeed
Widow skimmer mature female.

If the specimen was teneral, the wings would be very lustrous and the wing bases not so dark.

Indeed, wings do not show much wear. Maybe she was not harassed by males.
