This is a nice image in many ways. These grasshoppers (most Schistocerca in fact) routinely take to the trees, as this photo shows.

This shot is a little misleading in that the grasshopper was actually too far up the tree to photograph (which is often the case with this species), so a neighbor pulled the branch down for me. You know these shots do not come without sacrifice...today it was getting tangled in a nearby thorn bush of some sort...I only bled for a little while :).
