This
is more likely a mactans.
Dorsal markings (spots, lateral bands, basal band), leg bands, and hourglass are typical of adult male mactans, different with adult male geo's.

Give me all your knowledges
I'm in a Facebook spider ID group and the resident "widow guy" there IDed this for me as a brown widow. Brown widows are not common in MD so I assumed it was a black widow but I recently found and kept as a pet a female brown widow so I do know it's possible. Can you show me a male brown widow and tell me how to ID this vs that definitively? I want to be able to tell on sight like a boss.

When separating ...
Brown from Black Widows one of the first things I look at is how much white wraps around the black spots on the abdomen. It wraps around the spots more on a Brown Widow (this doesn't help however if the spider happens to be very dark).
