Crane Fly - Limonia novaeangliae

Crane Fly - Limonia novaeangliae
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 14, 2007

Moved
Moved from Crane Flies.

Perhaps Trichoceridae?
The wing venation of this Crane Fly reminds me of that family.

Winter Crane Fly?
Maybe, but it seems a bit early for them with temps still near 90.

"Winter Crane Fly"
Well, Dr. Young says on his website that Trichocerids are found in the spring and fall as well as warm days in winter. At the moment, I'm not too good at looking at venation ... but the images here do show how to differentiate these from other tipulomorphs.
