Leaf-footed Bug? - Leptoglossus oppositus

Leaf-footed Bug? - Leptoglossus oppositus
Henrico County, Virginia, USA
October 5, 2005
I have several photos of this type of insect taken at different times. I have been unable to positively determine what it is so any info is appreciated.

Looks like
Leptoglossus oppositus, but I'm just an amateur at this.

A bird apparently tried to make a meal of it as part of a wing cover and wing has been snipped off. Very nice images!

Wondering...
Scott, I am wondering if I should delete these pictures because part of the wing cover and wing are missing. They are not an accurate representation of the insect. Carol

I wouldn't
delete them. If you had a better set of images, you could frass these later and add the new ones to the guide. I think they are pretty neat and there is enough left of the bug to ID it :^).

Scott

I'll leave them for now
since they are better than the other images I have. I'll move them to the correct area, too. Thanks very much for your help!

Carol

Thank you
Scott,
I think you are right. I just spent an hour photographing and observing yet another one of these guys so I am glad to know what they are! Thank you!
Carol
