Very Dark Walnut Sphinx - Amorpha juglandis - female

Very Dark Walnut Sphinx - Amorpha juglandis - Female
Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA
September 7, 2007
This female came to my porch light. This is the first time I've ever seen an adult female besides the one I raised from a caterpillar last year. This is also by far the darkest individual I have ever seen, but there is no other species in the US that looks like this, and they are very common here. Going to hold onto her in hopes of getting some eggs.

did get some eggs -- nothing
did get some eggs -- nothing happened.
