Found: undescribed larva! - Eleates depressus
Jefferson Notch area, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
Size: adluts 5.5mm, larva 8.5mm
This is the position and shape of the chamber in which I found one of the new adults or larvae (I forget which). There were two layers to the conk. (I'm guessing this is characteristic of Fomitopsis pinicola conks.) The smaller of the tree larvae was toward the outer rim where the conk is a bit softer and spongier. All others were in the dense vertical grain portions of the fungal fruiting body.
