She's on an aster. She looks a little bit like the images under Glypta, but there are others that look very similar so I'm more confused than usual.

Hmmm. I noticed that "my" wasp looks a lot like this one, which was taken on the same day in the same county in Illinois, and which was identified as Ichneumonidae » Pimplinae » Ephialtini.

 
Glypta...
Glypta can be distinguished by the possession of oblique grooves on tergites II-IV, which can't be seen in your Ephialtini images.
