Looks a lot like a male of Lepidanthrax hyalinipennis
Nice catch! Among US beefly species the all-silvery dorsal side of the abdomen is unique to the males of L. hyalinipennis, as far as I know. And the same suspects also love Petalonyx north of Joshua Tree, here's one I saw along Hwy 62 a few years after yours during pandemic times.
