This one emerged at some point (I hadn't checked the vial in a while)--the specimen is moldy, but I preserved what I could in ethanol, along with a couple of galls. Should I send it?

Might as well
It will probably be quite a while before I find someone who will look at cynipids, but I'm continuing to save them with the assumption that I eventually will.

Sorry to say, this specimen is blown to bits
I've had that happen before when putting non-fresh specimens into ethanol (and probably having the galls in there with it didn't help). In the future if you have a moldy or otherwise long-dead specimen, it's probably best to just put it in a gel capsule.

These galls seem distinctive, and I imagine they'll be identifiable when I get around to putting more time into thinking about oak galls.
