I know these are baby true bugs , but what type and how many true bugs are there ? I have seen Assasin beetles around , Leaf legged bugs and the Negro bug . The Leaf leg bug baby and the Assasin bug baby both have a prickly abdomen , but the colors are different unless they change coloring when they molt and grow . These little fellows were newly hatched . They were spread out in a circle sourrounding the egg strips which they hatched from and each bug was facing outward in a warrior-like manner possibly to see what is approching from every angle . They looked nervous when I approached with a camera and the circle retreated slowly . Their little antennas were reaching out to touch their siblings in curiosity . Thanks for any comments in the process of their identification , Beth

your protests were justified - I apologize.

Thank you!

hmmm?
Can I protest this frass? I couldn't find any other GREEN Coreid-like nymphs in the guide, and these pictures seem decent quality. Why frass?

I second that -
I was having the same thoughts. Joot, I copied your images down and lightened and sharpened them a bit and they look better - would you like me to send them to you?

Hi Ashley
Glad it's not just me. They aren't my images... I'm just subscribed because I thought they were very interesting, and I wanted to see whether they might eventually be identified.

Oh, duh
I wasn't paying attention. :-P

my vote
I'm voting for leaffooted bug based on the longitudinal strip of eggs (compare to this). These green guys are really neat! and it would be cool to know what they turn into - is it possible to go back and try to find them in later stages? I also enjoyed the description btw.

Very cute little long-legged guys!
I can't help you, but thanks for posting! I've never seen any green and black ones before.
