Male Polyphylla decemlineata (Ten-lined June Beetle) - Polyphylla decemlineata - Male
Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County, California, USA
June 9, 2004
Size: ~ 1 to 1.5 inches
A large June Beetle I discovered on the side of the building after following the screems of one of our receptionists. Who knew someone in the veterinary field could be so afraid of an insect?

If you would like to see a larger version of this image I have it available here:

Hi Harry
Welcome to BugGuide. I'm looking forward to your quality images.

You may find that a leading issue here is busy volunteers overwhelmed by submissions. The idea is to get submissions to final Guide pages keeping ID Request and higher, less useful, taxa to a manageable size. I concur with your Ten-lined June Beetle identification. When you know the identification of a subject (to species, genus...) you may submit to that guide page. Your submission will also appear in Recent and will be scrutinized there. Only you and editors can move your submissions so if you do the moving that means an editor wont need to. Check the Help tab to learn how.

Thank you and welcome.
