Netelia sp. (Ichneumonidae)

Netelia sp. (Ichneumonidae)
Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada
April 30, 2007
[Comment edited 22 Oct 07 by CA] There were a few of these at my porch light over a few days in spring. I captured one and took it in to work at the Canadian Forest Service. One of the scientists identified it as an Ichneumonid, based on the wing pattern. I id'd it as a possible Netelia based on an image in Marshall.

Moved
to Ichneumonidae for now. If you feel very confident in your ID to genus and can give the name of the person who ID'd it, I'll great a genus page for this.

Netelia maybe
The scientist down the hall is sure this is an Ichneumonid, but that's as far as we can go. I id'd this as Netelia based on a picture in Marshall. Probably best not to add a genus page unless someone can id the wasp from it's wing venation.

Very hard!
Ichneumons are very hard to ID. Notice that we have almost 600 images not IDed. Maybe some day we'll get lucky.
