Protean Shieldback - Atlanticus testaceus - Female
Snowhill Road north of Cabin Branch Creek, Durham County, North Carolina, USA

Size: 23 mm
Found trapped in a building alcove. Appears to be Atlanticus pachymerus as shown in Rehn and Hebard (1916), now included in Atlanticus testaceus. Captured, measured, and posed. Body length 23 mm, 40 mm with ovipositor.
