Melanoplus bivittatus - female

Melanoplus bivittatus - Female
Rio Grande, Los Lunas, Valencia County, New Mexico, USA
September 13, 2007
Size: 63mm
Mega-grasshopper. I think this is the largest one of these I've ever seen. She was full of eggs, but - still. She was bigger than the female Schistocerca she was found with, and they are big. She's also very dark. Hind tibiae almost black, but a bit of blue at the tip.
