Cecidomyiidae, gall on Wood Nettle - Dasineura pilosa

Cecidomyiidae, gall on Wood Nettle - Dasineura pilosa
Baker's Woods, Cedar County, Iowa, USA
September 12, 2009
September 12, 2009: collected various galls on Wood Nettle, Laportea canadensis.
October 8, 2009: cut open the gall to find a live larva. Glued the gall back together but that seldom works.
Some months later looked again and larva was no longer distinguishable.

There was a time, several years in fact, when I didn't post photos to BG of partial rearings, when there was no adult but rather larval or pupal death along the way.
