hairy fly - Calliphora

hairy fly - Calliphora
Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo County, California, USA
March 11, 2005
this fly actually stayed still long enough for me to capture a clear image of it.

Calliphora vomitoria
A member of the family Calliphoridae (Blow flies)
Wouldn't be too surprised if this is actually the 'Blue bottle fly' or 'Common Blow fly', scientific name Calliphora vomitoria!
Greetings,
Gerard Pennards
