plain brown water strider, there were a coupl more of them around the ponfd. small pond, some established bulrushes and undergrowth.

Gerris (Aquarius) sp.
Depending on who you consult, the genus is either Gerris or Aquarius. If it was quite sizable, legspan about the diameter of a silver dollar or so, then it is G. remigis. If smaller, there are many species:-) This individual is a fully-winged adult. Nice shot.

Thank you. This was a large insect, including legs.. I was confused as there are no body markings.
