Hope so! I saw a lot of soldier beetles or what I think were soldier beetles. I can't seem to find them in the guide.

Chauliognathus discus

From the key to the NAmer Chauliognathus, I'd say this is C. discus. See type photo from the MCZ here . Yours doesn't have the 2 black dots on the pronotum, and your abdominal sternites are darker (although we can't see the underside coloration), but nothing else seems even close.

The best I've been able to do as far as removing an un-replied-to comment is to substitute a period for heading and text. Maybe I should remove my addition above it. Your comment is a more interesting read.
