unknown fly - Mycetaulus

unknown fly - Mycetaulus
Aromas, San Benito County, California, USA
September 21, 2007
Size: ~3mm
Saw this tiny guy on a Baccharis bush today, he was moving his wings alternately, sort of like he was "rowing", never saw him fly, he just walked up and down the branches and leaves of the bush. Can anyone assign him to genus and species?

Moved
Moved from Cheese skippers and kin. It looked to me like Mycetaulus when I first saw it, but I couldn't key it out. Thank you Dr. Korneyev for the ID and Mr. McDonald for contributing the fly.

Mycetaulus sp.
I am not an expert of the NA Piophilidae, but it looks like many other Mycetaulus spp. I collected mainly on old, autolyzed and stinky mushrooms...

Thank you Dr. Lorneyev
for assigning this specimen to a genus.

the venation
is wrong for ulidiidae; I'm more confident with Piophilidae.

Looks and Behaves Similar to a Picture Wing Fly
Similar, but not the exactly the same as these -- see what you think.

A bit of a puzzler.
Acts like and somewhat resembles a Boatman Fly (Pogonortalis doclea), but looks different enough to be something else.

Wing pattern, in particular, is different.
