Glowworm & Millipede - Zarhipis

I never knew California had glowworms!

I've never seen one...even the millipede is a pretty uncommon site in the bay area! Are they common in Sonoma?

I'm curious what the millipede looked like when the glowworm was done--your comment makes it sound like the hollow shell was intact, is that correct? I ask because in For Love of Insects, Thomas Eisner describes glowworm larvae as leaving millipedes in characteristic piles of separate, hollowed-out segments.

Zarhipis sp.

This is either a larva, or a larviform female. If it has compound eyes, then it is a female. They glow brightly in the membranes between the segments.

Found what I think to be a Zarhipis??

Any help with naming what we found in the yard? It looked mush like the picture posted here. It was in the grass and when disturbed it's tail end would light up. It was like two round head lights. Green or neon green. Any help with this one? I live in Minnesota. Thanks!
