Unknown Aphids - Publilia concava

Unknown Aphids - Publilia concava
Franklin, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, USA
August 14, 2007
I took the following pictures of what I believe are aphids. However, I do not know what species the aphids are and the ants. Regrettably, I also have yet to determine the type of plant they're on (I've included a picture of the plant hoping this helps). The picture was taken in the afternoon.
