Black Thread-waisted? Wasp - Eumenes fraternus

Black Thread-waisted? Wasp - Eumenes fraternus
Fort Tilden, Queens County, New York, USA
September 23, 2007
Size: ~1.5cm
Looks familiar, but I don't see it in my photo collection. Isodontia? Sphex? I have several photos of this individual fro other angles if that helps.

For future reference, this doesn't look thread-waisted.
Waists are really long and thin on such wasps. See: http://bugguide.net/node/view/135

Eumenes
Looks like Eumenes Fraternus. I've found them alot on goldenrod.

Correct.
I can confirm Jon's identification. Good call:-)

Thanks, Eric.
Looks like I'm starting to learn something!
