Owl fly, ululodes arizonensis? - Ululodes arizonensis
Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
September 6, 2007
The insect was caught in a spiders web, early morning, along the Salt river (Goldfield). The wing pattern is not of quadrimaculatus, nor the ascaloptynx. The clubbed antenna are plain light brown. There were no photos on the web, just some description from Psyche that I tried to work through.

#147979 Identification – Ululodes arizonensis
Identification.

Looks
Like the eye is divided so that may be the only possibility in that genus. Whether there are other western genera I am not sure.

Thank you for the help. Ululodes have
the divided eyes, and there are at least three ululode species. I have not found a lot of information about ululodes unless you have the specimen in hand and can examine the wings more carefully.
