Moved from Double-banded Bycid. Sorry I moved it before I saw the spelling..is this a different species that bivitatta?

 
I think it's misspelled in he guide.
But I am interested why some specimen have the red centered pronotum and some don't. I've found the ones with plain dark in SE AZ.

Sphaenothecus bivittatus
It's a nice male of Sphaenothecus bivittatus (Dupont, 1838), Cerambycinae Trachyderini.

 
The red in the center
of th pronotum was obvious in all specimen at my site, but the ones from Texas in the guide don't have it. Is that why those are called S. bivittata ? (-:
