The plants look like
the imported pest, water hyacinth. Do they actually survive in the wild in Rhode Island?

Insects
John, thanks. Water Hyacinths do not winter over in Rhode Island.
I have a water garden pond 9X16 feet 36 inches deep. I buy 4 water hyacinth plants in May. No fish in my pond, but many green frogs,
also tree frogs and wood frogs come to the pond in the spring for a short time to mate. NO BULL FROGS. Many water pond insects. My gardens are on the garden tour in Charlestown, RI. Thanks again.

Nice capture of mating behavior!
However, may I suggest that you restrict yourself to one or two shots - unless very different angles are shown, it does not help to see more images - in fact the result is often multiple IDs scattered all over the place, which is a waste of everyone's time, especially considering the large volume of images posted here for ID each day. We certainly welcome your ID requests, but please keep it simple. : )

Different angles for dragonflies
You certainly have a knack for capturing multiple images. For dragonflies consider three or four views: Side. Top (dorsal view). Face. Genetalia.
If you want info like this for other insects, please email me.

Identification.
This is a pair of common green darners, Anax junius. Male is in front guarding the ovipositing female (to prevent other males from mating with her and usurping his genetic investment:-)
