Trimerotropis cincta - male

Trimerotropis cincta - Male
above Sandia Park, Sandia Mountains, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA
September 9, 2007
Very similar to T. fontana (they blend where they meet west from the Rockies), but T. cincta has a black stripe through the eye. Likes sunny patches in woodland and forest in mountains best. Resembles a Conozoa quite a lot. It has a fast rather high-pitched, almost quiet buzz or pulse buzz when it flies. Likes to fly through trees and bushes, making it hard to catch, even though it doesn't fly far.
