By looking at the forewing I
By looking at the forewing I would have said that this is a Tobacco Budworm but the hindwing on a Tobacco Budworm is white with a dark gray outer edge...it does not have orange/pink stripes.

Maybe someone with more experience with this moth will comment.

 
Heliothis virescens
Michael, I was very surprised when I saw this moth land on my Showy Stonecrop, open the wings and reveal all that pink. I found similar image at arizona.edu, not quite as bright but definitely pink and orange coloration of hindwings. Also, I found photo#39278 here in the BugGuide which again has pink coloration in hindwings. I appreciate your opinion and will leave this moth here for other experts to comment. Ted
