Numbers

This genus is comprised of three species in North America: Ceruchus piceus, Ceruchus punctatus, and Ceruchus striatus.

Range

One species is found in eastern North America (C. piceus) and the other two (C. punctatus and C. striatus) are western, from California north to British Columbia.

Habitat

Dead wood, which is used by the larvae as food.
