Jumping spider wins - Naphrys pulex

Jumping spider wins - Naphrys pulex
Milton, Massachusetts, USA
April 13, 2005
The light colored spider on the left went after the jumping spider, and it wasn't even a contest. The jumping spider was on top in less than a second. It's funny how the other spider looks bigger, but when the jumping spider is eating it, the jumper looks much larger.

Awesome photos... but...
are you sure those are the same spiders? Not only is there an enormous size discrepancy, but the color (red in original, pale in later), leg shape, and opisthosoma shape are all off. Perhaps the prey is a spiderling in the same web?

Maybe
But when I was watching those were the only 2 spiders I saw on that rock.

amazing series
I guess these jumping spiders have the muscle to back up the big show they put on.
