8582 - Ephyrodes cacata
Thanks to Jim Vargo for the ID. I had photographed a poor specimen in the collection at Archbold Biological Station last March but did not recognize a match when trying to ID the live moths (not an uncommon experience for me). This species was common at Archbold (Lake Placid FL) at the end of September.

Very cool!
Thanks, and thanks to Jim Vargo! We don't seem to have a Genus guide page here (yet) for Ephyrodes so I'll move this to Catocalinae, the subfamily listed at Montana State University's Butterflies and Moths of North America.

Thanks again for the sleuthing!

Me Too!
I'm tracking one down that I shot at Gainesville on Oct. 3. Hope to have an ID soon.
