Identification
Antennae 3-segmented, with an arista. Lack the enlarged lower calypter, longitudinal suture on second antennal segment, and greater ampulla that characterize the Calyptratae.
Remarks
A very diverse group, probably paraphyletic. This group includes families with a wide variety of body forms and life histories.
