Hymenia perspectalis

Hymenia perspectalis
Powell Gardens, near Kansas City, Missouri, USA
September 30, 2007
Size: inch
I saw several of these at Powell Gardens but this was the best shot I could get... I don't even know for sure whether it's a butterfly or a day flying moth... help?

Hymenia
This is a Hymenia perspectalis, # 5169.

Spoladea recurvalis has a straighter AM line, an unbroken and fuller median band, and most notably lacks the two white patches in the fringe of the FW (as well as white patches in fringe of HWs).

(Good catch Max)

A possible ID ...
This little moth is possibly a Hawaiian Beet Webworm - Hodges#5170 - Spoladea recurvalis. See:
