what kind of spider is this? - Meta ovalis

what kind of spider is this? - Meta ovalis
around Carbonear, Newfoundland/Labrador, Canada
October 1, 2007
Size: 3cm?(body)
found in open cave (actually, really old root cellar). Biggeset spider I have seen, have no idea what it is.

Moved
Moved from Spiders.

Note egg sac in background.

What kind of web?
What kind of web did it spin? Might be the cave orb weaver, but I'm not sure. This is going to be a really nice find whatever it is.

web
it looked like a pretty normal "spiderweb" web to me (sorry, not that helpful a description perhaps....). He/she was in the middle of it. I presume that is the "egg sack" (again, sorry....) visible in the pic behind it.
