Desert Whitetail - male - Plathemis subornata - Male
Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge, near Roswell, N.M., Chaves County, New Mexico, USA
September 25, 2007
Size: Est. 1-3/4 to 2" lgth
Very approachable for close-ups on land. Some shots taken while more perfect specimen was perched on a reed in slow running water.
Even when they flew they would come back to same perch or general location in short order. One shared a pond location with a Flame Skimmer.
