Toad bug ? - Gelastocoris oculatus

Toad bug ? - Gelastocoris oculatus
Pleasanton / Sunol, Alameda County, California, USA
October 6, 2007
Size: a good 1/4 "
I have always wanted to see a Toadbug and when I read in my bug book that they are found near the waters shore I made a point to look for them . It was hard to find one because of their great camoflauge and because there were so many small Grasshoppers jumping everywhere and little spiders running around . This is the strangest bug that I have ever seen and I was amazed at how Toad-like he is , especially when he hops away . This little fellow would not stay still for photos and once he hopped he was hard to find again ! Thanks for any confirmation or comment , sincerely Beth
