Clickable data points

Could data points on the data page be made into clickable image queries? It would be helpful to researchers to be able to call up a page of images of a taxon from California or from September for instance rather than open every thumbnail in the taxon looking for them. Either that or Mike Boon's advanced search could be made part of bugguide.

Thanks John and Jane, and Mike!
It sounds like a very cool feature! It should be very interesting and useful!

It might be a lot to ask for, but...
...it would be a great learning tool! And would probably encourage additional contributions. Some, if not all, of this functionality might already be present, though not as intuitively. All of our submissions have fields for location and date. I've never tested how robust this sites search engine is. Sets? Boolean operators? You tell me!

Is it possible to do a search like "California +Odonata +September?

If people had an easy way to see what had been contributed in their areas, they might be motivated to fill in the gaps! Nice idea, Jim!

Search
This is not as easy as what you're proposing, but in the short term, you can use my form to search this:

Search link (scroll down to see the results)

The data in that search isn't up to date...it's a few weeks old. I update it periodically.

You can do exactly the search
you specify if you contact Mike Boone for his advanced search feature. Read about it here in the Forums. We are all hoping this feature will be available when BugGuide is next updated.

Yes you can
but the result is a list of links that you have to open separately. A page a thumbnails would be much easier to work with.

I just tried your example: nothing!
A simple query form is another alternative, yielding a page of thumbnails that match the parameters.

Excellent idea Jim. This wou
Excellent idea Jim. This would be a great feature.
