Spider in the bathroom - Agelenopsis - female

Spider in the bathroom - Agelenopsis - Female
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
October 10, 2007
Size: 15 mm approx
Either we have a plague of these, or this is a single persistant/confused spider that has been spotted in two bedrooms of the house, and now in the bathroom, over the last week. I took a stab at the ID using my Spiders and Their Kin(1) book, and think it might be Agelenopsis sp. - anyone care to confirm/deny?

Grass Spider
Hi Hannah. I believe you are correct in stating this is a member of the genus Agelenopsis. It is a grass spider, also known as the common funnel weaver or funnel web spider. I get a rush of these fellas in the spring and fall. They are very fast, so you may have just the one spider who doesn't know where (s)he wants to live.

I also found one of these hudge spiders in my bathroom. I have been trying to find out if these are poisonous or not. Please if you have any more info please email me at b.mallissa@yahoo.com. I live in Michigan and hate spiders.

They are not dangerous
- very few spiders are dangerous to humans, in fact. There's more info on the guide page here.

I agree
Agelenopsis female.
